I better just get this out of the way…

November 5, 2008

I told myself it wasn’t going to bother me…but it’s only a couple of hours after the announcement that Barack Hussein Obama won the elections, and I already cannot stand to hear about the “historic event.”

ALL because he’s black.

I don’t give a fuck that he’s black.

I’m so tired of feeling like every time a black person accomplishes something we have to pat them on the back and give them a cookie.

Slavery ended a long time ago. Blatant and rampant racism ended quite a while ago too. Every person in this country is given the same thing: The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I know that there was a time when that wasn’t the case. It was more than just an unfortunate blip in our history. It was a shameful part of our past, but it’s OVER.

It seems like the only people who really make race an issue these days are the black people themselves! Get over it!

You know, you could probably accomplish even more if you’d stop wasting your time lamenting about how things USED to be.

The times changed. We live in a different country.

Wake up.

I don’t find it anymore remarkable that Barack Hussein Obama is our first black president than I do that he’s probably got the biggest ears of any president we’ve ever had.

Because it doesn’t matter.

I’m more concerned with the fact that he’s a raging socialist and will most likely run this country straight into the ground.

Congratulations America…you elected the first socialist into the office of president. Now THAT is historic.

You say the times changed. We live in a different country. But that’s not true and your post proves it. You’re a raging racist assholeAs to the socialist thing. I couldn’t say it better than my friend here did. the read.

You need to seriously educate yourself on what racism really is, because obviously you don’t know.I’m not racist, nor is anyone else who writes on this blog. We simply state the facts, and if they aren’t what you like to hear, then tough. All you can do is call names, and then pat yourself on the back for it. I’ve given you a chance to redeem yourself, and you won’t. I responded to your post respectfully and I explained my position. And you responded with “You’re a raging racist asshole.” That speaks volumes about the kind of person YOU are. It says little about me. This country is different. We DO live in a different time. Look around you. Anyone with a brain recognizes it.Racism has become a crutch for many black people in this country. Instead of letting it go, they cling to it because it’s an answer to their problems. But they’re holding on to air, because those challenges don’t exist anymore.I realize I won’t convince you otherwise, and so be it. At least I’ve put the truth out there. ~T the D

I could not agree more with your post.I, too, cannot stomach hearing “history has been made” anymore. The very people screaming about the history being made are the only ones who made this campaign about race. If they did not want to it to be about race, they should never have discussed race!I also think it is a sad comment that so many needed Obama to “prove” what a black man is capable of. Obama did not change the tone of America; he merely demonstrated that anything is possible in the United States. But, it was already there for the taking! Those who needed the inspiration held themselves back. As a woman, I didn’t need Hillary and Sarah to show me what I was capable of. As I listened to Sherri Sheppard cry on the View yesterday (I only saw the clip on the news; I’d never watch that show!), I couldn’t help but wonder why she didn’t possess the self-esteem prior to this election, to tell her son “anything is possible!”

No, gigashadow, you couldn’t say anything better because all you do is link to someone elses work and rely on name calling.

This is the exact phenomenon I’ve been trying to grapple with – Barack Obama’s candidacy was not about race, according to the old news media – except when it was.It was almost funny to watch them twisting themselves into knots, trying to apply this dual dichotomy to whatever the latest landmine was. Jeremiah Wright? Irrelevant! Total lack of executive experience? Irrelevant! Something a reporter claims he thought he heard someone in a large crowd at a McCain rally say? STOP THE PRESSES!!! McCain=racist!!!
