Another Great Depression?

February 10, 2009

Well Obama sure does want you to believe that’s what we’re facing if Congress doesn’t pass his beloved massive spending bill.

He keeps sayings that we’re facing the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression…which is blatantly false…and he’s only doing it to scare us.

Well it’s not working on me…because I have a brain.

Did you know that during the Great Depression, the unemployment rate varied between 25 and 30% for several years?

That isn’t even CLOSE to where we’re at right now. Currently we’re under 8%…obviously we’d like it to be lower…but we’re nowhere close to where we were during the Great Depression.

Furthermore, the statistic show that our unemployment rate has been higher than it is now…take the early 80’s for example when we had an unemployment rate above 10%.

The fact is, we’ve gone through tough times like this before, and made it out ok without the government jumping full force into the mix to try and “solve” the problem.

Reality is this: we’re going through a tough time…but if you let people keep their money and you encourage growth in the economy and you don’t attempt to scare the shit out of people at every turn, things will change for the better. On the other hand, if government decides to keep our money and spend it how they see fit, we really WILL be facing another Great Depression. It’s exactly how we ended up in that situation…the New Deal completely hosed us. But you wouldn’t know that by the way Obama talks. I guess it’s too hard for him to admit that it could be war that helped us out of truly one of the lowest points in our American history.

He keeps saying that he inherited this bad economy and now its his job to fix it…but I’m just wondering what the NEXT president will inherit. I can’t imagine it will be a pretty picture.
