Attention St. Joseph County, Indiana Voters

October 27, 2009

From now through November 3rd you have the option of voting on whether the county will join a new regional transportation district.

Basically, if it passes, we will become part of a district in Northern Indiana that pays for expansions to the  South Shore and bus systems NOT in our county.

In addition, if it passes, a board will be chosen (not elected) and they will be voting on an additional .25% option tax to help fund this project.

If you work in St. Joseph County, you probably already noticed that more money is being taken from your check.  That was due to another option tax that just passed.

Instead of cutting spending like they should, government at all levels is finding ways to tax us MORE for projects.  And they are very often projects that possess no real value for the people who will be funding them.  It’s ridiculous, and that is why I will be voting ‘no.’

Regardless of how you intend to vote, you should take the time to do it.

To vote absentee, you can go to the County Services Building in Mishawaka (219 Lincoln Way West) today or Thursday between the hours of 8am and 4pm.  You may also vote at the County-City Building tomorrow or Friday from 8am to 4pm.

I can’t say it enough – Let your voice be heard.  Your votes matter.

I’m supposing this is short for something that begins with mammary glands and ends with “ass”?
